This journey will take you from Perth to the South West and back again, learning from the experience gained by the experts as they explore the best off-road destinations in Australia.

Trip itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Perth to the South West

    Join Adventure Offroad Training for a 4 day, 3 night excursion in WA's South West where we will explore the beautiful and exciting D'Entrecasteaux National Park. You will be leaving Perth early on day one, meeting your trip guides and trainers on the road at the first stop. We will then set off in convoy through the South West, stopping for lunch on the way. From there we will travel south, where you will be staying the next three nights at a camp site.

  2. Day 2

    Callcup Hill & camp skills

    Learn how to tackle the famous Callcup Hill and maybe even cross the Warren River. Stop for lunch on the beach and enjoy a dip in the river to cool off, or a spot of fishing if you would like. That evening, learn the basics of 4WD trip navigation, communications and safety devices from an expert, and pick up all the tips and tricks for bush camping — what to bring and what to leave behind.

  3. Day 3

    Beach run & Karri forest night drive

    We will drive through the forest to the top of Callcup Hill, stopping to take in the views before descending to the beach. From there we head southeast along the beach to the very end, having lunch on the way and crossing the Meerup river mouth. We then exit the beach via the Summertime Track, taking the road back to Pemberton via Moons Crossing, for a possible night drive through the Karri forest and past the famed Gloucester Tree back to camp.

  4. Day 4

    Lake Jasper & the road home

    Up early to pack up camp and head out to Lake Jasper for morning tea and a dip, before heading off to Black Point for lunch. Leaving the dunes and forest behind, we weave our way back up the Vasse Highway on the final leg back to Perth.

What you'll need

  • Fully road worthy and insured 4WD
  • 80 channel UHF radio (if hand held, bring batteries or a way to charge it — we can also hire you one if you wish)
  • Tent, swag or small off-road camper trailer
  • Gas stove and gas for cooking
  • Food and water for all occupants for 4 days (5L water per person per day)
  • Fridge
  • 4WD recovery gear (compressor, deflator, MaxTrax or similar, shovel)
  • Small first aid kit and fire extinguisher
  • Suitable clothing (remember nights can get cool)
  • All tools and equipment to change a wheel if necessary

  • A secure and secluded site with everything you need
  • Camp kitchen
  • A gas BBQ and a wood BBQ ring (seasonal)
  • Preparation benches for food — BYO chopping board
  • 2 large undercover tables with bench seating
  • Hot water system for showers
  • Toilets
